The Peter Oakley Trust

Peter Oakley was a great friend of the Reading-San Francisco Libre Association who provided invaluable advice. Sadly Peter died in 2001, and in his memory, the Peter Oakley Trust was formed.

The Trust helps children in San Francisco Libre to attend school by paying their mothers a monthly allowance to cover a range of expenses, including school fees, uniforms and transport costs.

When the scheme began in 2002, it initially helped eight children continue their education. That figure has steadily increased, and now sixteen young people are receiving support through the scheme.

Those currently receiving assistance through the Peter Oakley Trust are:

Diana Melisa Briceño Artola 6th grade of primary school From Lomas del Sol, Casco Urbano
Ivania Isabel Gutiérrez Díaz 5th grade of primary school From La Trinidad
Jairo Ocón Torres 1st year of secondary school From La Trinidad
