CheckendonThe village of Checkendon (population 817 according to the 1991 census), is situated about seven miles north of Reading. The Chiltern village, nestled in woodlands, is a popular destination for ramblers and horseriders. Checkendon's fine, Romanesque Church is located at the south-west edge of the village (photo), and in the nearby village of Stoke Row, the striking Maharajah's Well was opened in 1863 (photo). This Ordnance Survey Landranger map gives a better impression of the area around Checkendon. |
Please ensure your bicycles are in good working order, as the Association cannot afford to be held liable. The 15 mile route has been designed to avoid roads wherever possible, in order to make it suitable for younger, or less experienced riders - however the 30 mile route does include stretches of main road, and is therefore intended for more experienced cyclists.
If you are unable to take part in the RSFLA Cycle Ride, but would like to make a donation towards the 'Bicycle Project', please print out this page and post us the form below.
Using Gift Aid, you can make your donation worth more. For every pound you give us, we get an extra 28 pence from the Inland Revenue.
This means that £10 can be worth £12.80 just so long as donations are made through Gift Aid. You can make your donation go further, simply by filling in the Gift Aid declaration on the sponsorship form.
To qualify for Gift Aid, what you pay in income tax or capital gains tax must at least equal the amount we will claim in the tax year.
