RSFLA Cycle Ride 2004
|
|
The RSFLA Cycle Ride took place on Sunday 6th July, a day blessed with near ideal cycling conditions - warm, but cloudy.
While three of the participants opted to cycle the full 30 mile route, the majority of the group contented themselves with a 15 mile jaunt along the picturesque country lanes of the Chilterns.
After working up an appetite, we stopped off at the Four Horseshoes pub in Checkendon for a hearty lunch, and the odd drink. Following a couple of hours of relaxing chat, we mounted our bikes for the remaining six mile pedal back to Reading.
Following the success of the ride, a decision has already been made to repeat the event in June next year.
The RSFLA would like to thank everyone who took part in the ride, especially those who collected sponsorship money. So far, at least £250 has been raised to support the 'Bicycle Project' in San Francisco Libre - enough to pay for an additional eight bicycles, to join the twenty that have already been donated by the RSFLA.
